Product Marketing Manager, Underwriting Risk (Head) - Remote

(This position can be based remotely in the U.S.)


We have an exciting opportunity to head-up a new product targeting the underwriting process in the payer group market. Prognos is an innovative analytics company providing AI-driven products to Life Sciences and Payers markets. This role would have end-to-end accountability of the product, product design, market launch and P&L success. Prognos is based in New York City, but this position can be home-based, within the U.S. 

The Product Marketing Manager (PMM) is responsible for overall product/marketing management for Prognos’ Payer Underwriting Risk product including product direction, market positioning, and meeting revenue goals. This role is expected to have a deep industry knowledge of actuarial and underwriting practices and processes within payer market. This role will utilize understanding of payer underwriting requirements in support of group pricing and translate market requirements/innovation to product strategy and lead cross-functional teams (including Payer Research, Product Roadmap, Marketing Communications, Product Development, Engineering and Data Science) to execute those strategies. The PMM will insure that client needs and positioning in the payer lead generation area are met in a way that aligns with the Prognos business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information and direct client interaction.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Oversee Product development and ensure product aligns to business specifications
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtains product market share by working with business development to develop product sales strategies.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with Product Development and Engineering.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing plans with sales, marketing communications, and production.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5-10 years in payer healthcare space specifically actuarial/underwriting
  • Preferably Product experience
  • Deep knowledge of Payer actuarial and underwriting markets and industry; preferably experience with industry leaders such as Milliman
  • Ability to define underwriting product features and integration into payer processes
  • Strong strategic thinker with proven track record executing
  • Strong commercial skills, but also conversant technically such that communication between commercial and technical functions is facilitated
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a matrix environment, leading cross-functional teams
